Happy little canvas

I assemble the stretcher bars, stretch the canvas, gesso the canvas… again and again and again, build the image from three to five colors of oil paint and two mediums, design the frame, build the frame from salvaged wood, varnish everything… again and again and again… and bask in the joy of creating a thing. It’s slow, it’s frustrating, it’s joyful, then crazy making… then blissful.
